What is JOYful?

Every small act is individual but contributes to the whole. Complex things are comprised of many small things. Communities are made up of persons and each of us determines every day how cool and amazing and awesome our lives and neighborhoods are and will be.

Be JOYful every day! For every single day matters.

What does JOYful mean? Besides actively choosing yoga and positive thoughts – make happiness and JOY your personal mission. Do JOY. Just Offer Yourself. Every day. Commit random acts of karma yoga every day!

Just Offer Yourself

Ideas for how to do karma yoga that don’t cost a penny

  • Mow your neighbor’s lawn, sweep their driveway, or shovel their walk.
  • Bake cookies or chocolate fudge and share with another chocolate fiend (thanks Samantha!!)
  • Set another place at the dinner table and invite someone over for a meal.
  • Say a prayer for someone who could use your blessings.
  • Bring someone with you to the grocery store, bank, or to run other errands. Save gas and share conversation.
  • Carpool.
  • Pass along a book you just finished to someone who might enjoy it.
  • Dispense hugs liberally.
  • Be an active listener with a wide open heart.
  • Expect nothing in return and watch miracles happen.
yogi warrior’s for peace

Being JOYful is waging peace. According to Mahatma Gandhi, teachings on satyagraha, or “truth force” (inner transformation) is the key to social change. The power of satyagraha is what the world needs to solve any social crisis. Nonviolent power of satyagraha is the key for social change. The term satyagraha was coined by Mahatma Gandhi and means “the power of truth” or “truthforce.”

Doing and being are the same. Be peace in order to achieve peace. So, be nonviolent, and be peace, love, and equality.

Gandhi said, “We must be the change we wish to see in the world.”

By transforming ourselves we tap into a larger collective conscience and potentially a grander transformation.

“Deep looking is meditation, and deep acting is also meditation.” Thich Nhat Hanh, Peace is Every Step.
